Prohibited Adobe Flash
The day before the release of IPAD 3G, Apple CEO Steve Jobs posted a letter on the Apple Web site in which details the reasons why it has decided not to allow the use of Adobe Flash on Apple’s mobile products , including iPhones, iPods and iPads.
Jobs listed six main reasons for this policy, including the desire for Apple to adopt open standards for HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, Flash incompatible touch with computers, the fact that Flash is the main reason that Macs hung, and the belief that Jobs created applications for certain platforms work better, in contrast to the philosophy of cross-platform Flash.
Furthermore, in an interview in April 29 with Wall Street Journal, the CEO of Adobe, Shantanu Narayen, counterattacked Jobs. Narayen argued that the fact that Apple is forcing software developers to work only on Apple devices is “cumbersome” for those who want to develop software that works on different devices.
“We have different visions of the world,” said Narayen. “Our vision of the world is multi-platform.”
